Scoil na gCeithre Maol – Enrolement Policy
Pátrún: An Foras Pátrúnachta na Scoileanna LánGhaeilge
Roll No. 20084U, Mixed School, Established 1998, School Hours: 8:50-2:30

This is a Gaelscoil. Irish is the language of communication in the school and all subjects are taught through Irish, except English.
The school follows the curricular programme prescribed by the Dept. Of Education and Skills, which may be amended from time to time in accordance with Sections 9 and 30 of the Education Act (1998). The school depends on the grants and teacher resources, provided by the Dept. of Ed and is operated within the Regulations of the Dept. The school must therefore work within the resources and the funding that is available. That much said, the school supports the following principles of:
- Inclusiveness, particularly with regard to the enrolment of children with a disability or other special educational need.
- Equality of access and participation in the School
- Respect for the diversity of values, beliefs, traditions, languages and ways of life in society.
- Parental choice in relation to enrolment.
Procedure
All parents who have an interest in enrolling a child in the school should contact the principal as soon as possible before the September that they would like to begin.  It is necessary to fill in an application form (see form in plean scoile) Depending on the availability of places in the school, it is the school policy to allocate places to families having regard to the following general headings, although this does not guarantee any child a place in the school:
• Families who already have children attending the school
• Families transferring from another Gaelscoil
• Families who demonstrate a genuine interest in using Irish and in Irish medium education
• Families whose children attend the Naíonra
• First come – first served basis
• In the case where there is a pressure regarding spaces, places will be allocated to those who are five rather than four
N.B. If a family transfer from an English speaking school, the school policy states that a child won’t be accepted after the completion of first class, due to the constraints placed on both the transferring child and the existing class regarding the language. The allocation of places will be subject to internal review from time to time and may be influenced by changes in future Department standards and the overall educational requirements of the area.
Admission Date
Normally September 1st is the starting date. Children should be at least four. Depending on space Junior Infants can be enrolled up until the end of September. Children can transfer to the school at any time (adhering to the above policy). It is dependent on space and sometimes of the approval of the Department of Education & Skills.
Roles & Responsibilities:
It is the role of the Board of Management to ensure that this policy is adhered to in its entirety. This policy will be reviewed on a regular basis.
